Common Questions

Getting Started

TaxMatch compares the gross amount reported on your 1099-K with imported transaction records, then categorizes potential adjustments such as refunds, chargebacks, processing fees, and collected sales tax. Review the resulting breakdown against source records with your tax professional.
From your dashboard, navigate to Settings and select "Payment Processors." Shopify Payments and Stripe connect directly and sync automatically. For PayPal, download your activity CSV from PayPal and import it — a direct PayPal connection is not yet verified, so CSV import is the recommended path. Any other processor can be imported by CSV.
Yes. Tell us which processor or order exports you use and how you normally review them. We can help by email, tailor the steps to your workflow, and arrange an authenticated import when data is needed. A meeting is not required. Do not send tax IDs, credentials, or transaction files through the contact form.
Choose “Feature request” on the contact page and describe the result you need. Useful requests are reviewed as product feedback and can improve TaxMatch for everyone.

Reconciliation

Form 1099-K reports gross payments without adjustments for items such as fees, refunds, credits, shipping, cash equivalents, or discounts. Compare the form with your records and ask a tax professional how each item should be reported.
TaxMatch includes a discrepancy detection feature that flags and explains remaining differences between your 1099-K and your calculated gross. Each discrepancy is assigned a severity rating and an explanation. If you need further assistance, our support team can help you investigate specific discrepancies.
Yes. TaxMatch supports PDF and CSV exports that organize reconciliation totals and line items for your own review or discussion with a tax professional. The exports are not tax returns and should be verified before filing.

Billing

No. TaxMatch organizes records for reconciliation and professional review. It does not provide tax advice, decide deductibility, guarantee filing accuracy, or replace a CPA or other qualified tax professional.
